Nucleus Colonies
All our nucs are headed by young Queens bred at Kildallon Apiaries and are made up of either 5 or 6 frames and will contain at least 2 frames of sealed brood and one full frame of stores.
Overwintered Nucs are available from early April onwards, depending on availability.
Summer Nucs are available from early June to the end of September.
AMM NUCLEUS COLONIES
Headed by young AMM Queens, these nucleus colonies, with the proper care, should flourish a give a small honey crop in their first season.
BUCKFAST NUCLEUS COLONIES
Young Buckfast Queens are extremely prolific. An overwintered Queen will hit the ground running in very early spring. This can bring its own challenges, such as ensuring the bees don't starve if prolonged bad weather occurs during the spring months. However, a honey crop in the first season is almost guaranteed with Buckfast bees.
